KL – NYC Bridal Shower

So about three months ago I posted about a new project I was working on- Travel Theme Bridal Shower. In the end after many rounds of discussions, it turned into a KL-NYC theme party. The reason was because the bride was a Japanese, living in KL for the past 5 years and she’s moving to NYC with her man! Her favorite colours were pink and white and so that lay the basis for the overall decor.

My “architect” side of me came out when I decided to do a skyline backdrop for a photobooth. I did a simple one using SHARPIE markers and mahjong paper.

Can you identify some of the iconic buildings?

I did some research on graphic design and interestingly, to highlight buildings further away in the background, it’s better to draw them in thicker lines. I thought that was interesting since in architectural drawings, we always use thicker lines for objects closer to the viewer.

New Project – Travel Theme Bridal Shower

So a friend of mine if getting married and moving to New York! All the girls are jealous of her right now. Wouldn’t you be?

Am throwing her bridal shower and decided it should be a Travel themed one since she’s moving! I thought it would be a great idea to
make paper plane invitations! Here’s the mock up I’ve done :

Wedding Ceremony Program

“The groom always smiles proudly because he’s convinced he’s accomplished something quite wonderful. The bride smiles because she’s been able to convince him of it.”

– Judith McNaught, A Kingdom of Dreams

A couple of months ago, I designed a Wedding Ceremony Program for two friends. The bride knew exactly what she wanted : A doily fan program in her wedding theme – turquoise and white. We had the wedding program on one side and on the reverse was the wedding song. The idea was to be simple and functional and it turned out well. View more of my portfolio here

Inspirations.

So the other day, I was browsing through some blogs and was intrigued by what I saw! The art work by Aakash Nihalani and Alex Menocal. I found their work mind boggling! Perhaps it is me who lives in a small world and did not know who they are or what work they’ve done but I was truly impressed and inspired by the fact that just TAPE can create such beautiful things. It really goes to show how even the most common things around us can be transformed into something beautiful. Amazing. Truly inspiring.

Some of the photos here I’ve taken from the websites of Aakash Nihalani and Alex Menocal and some of the work featured on designboom.

So after I saw all this, I was inspired to do my own 3D art. Although it didnt turn out as amazing, I am kinda proud of it and it is now on display on my wall. I used ice-cream sticks which i bought from the art shop and UHU Glue. 🙂
